Empress of China, 2320 South Dort Highway, Flint, MI, View Map

Description

This is a great opportunity for skeptics to talk, share ideas, wine, and dine in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. We discuss the issues of the day and whatever else is on our minds. But most of all, we have fun while promoting skepticism, science, and rationality.

This week, we will be discussing, "What Missing Link?"

The evolution puzzle is being filled in and the "Missing Links" are more infrequent. Come and view some of the more recent finds in paleontology and how the circumstantial case against Intelligent Design has strengthened even further. Perhaps it's time to go to trial...

To find the group, look for table signs bearing the Center For Inquiry logo. We gather in a semi-private room toward the back of the restaurant.

Cost: Individuals are responsible for purchasing their own food/beverages and gratuity for our very attentive waiter.

Service: Invasion of the Groundsnatchers

Saturday, June 2, 2012, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Blandford Nature Center, 1715 Hillburn Avenue Northwest , Grand Rapids, MI, View Map

Description

Many environmentalists believe invasive plants are the biggest threat to the survival of our beloved Michigan flora and fauna and many of these invaders were brought in by unsuspecting gardeners! Help us bring back our native Michigan plants by learning about invasive plant species and how to eliminate/remove them. You CAN make a difference.

Volunteers should bring gloves and any hand tools they can, like loppers, pruners and foldable hand saws. Also, we will be hiking away from the center so volunteers should come prepared with a water bottle, and wear clothes and old shoes that can get dirty. Poison ivy is loving the change in climate, so long pants and sleeves are recommended.

As a reward for all of our efforts, the group will meet for lunch afterwards at the Walker Roadhouse, 3272 Remembrance Road (corner of Leonard and Remembrance). Hope to see you there!
