Join us as Justin Schieber and Scott Symington debate Does God Exist?
About the Debaters
Justin Schieber was born and raised in a religious household. After having embraced the Christian message seriously for the first time in his life, he was baptized at 14 and then endured a difficult 2 year 'Crisis of Faith' regarding some of the fundamental claims of the Bible.
Now a CFI member, Justin enjoys promoting critical thought and a friendly, yet firm skepticism towards religious claims. Within the past few years, Justin has taken part in a debate series facing off with a handful of local Christians on topics such as the "Existence of God," "The Source of Morality" and the "Resurrection of Jesus Christ."
Currently Justin enjoys co-hosting a local podcast that can be found on iTunes: "Reasonable Doubts"
Scott Symington Graduated from the University of Michigan and has worked as teacher for over a decade in almost the full range of middle school and high school subject areas. During that time, Scott was nominated for outstanding teacher of the year consistently by students, parents, and other educators, and was featured in a university study on motivation in the classroom. Scott obtained an M.A. in educational leadership, and a degree in medical physics, and currently works in UM Health Systems at Tejada Cancer Center in Jackson, MI.
Recognizing the quantity and quality of impacts of one’s worldview beliefs, Scott presents programs on worldview beliefs to diverse audiences, not feeling a responsibility to convert anyone, but hoping to stimulate further thought on a serious issue.
This event is open to the public. Students from other area campuses are invited to attend.
