Presented by Mira Krishnan, PhD, Principal Consultant, Mira Krishnan LLC

As part of my work helping communities and organizations thrive by embracing diversity, I have been working on building bridges between progressive causes and faith-based communities. In this talk, we will examine trends in US religious affiliation and belief, as well as changes in attitudes towards the LGBTQIA+ rights, gender equality, and other traditionally progressive causes. As an increasingly visible part of the American landscape, atheist-identified and non-religious people face issues arising from societal lack of understanding about their beliefs and values. There are also intersections of identities and priorities among our communities, for instance due to the lower rates of religious affiliation in the LGBTQIA+ population. Opportunities to co-advocate and advance shared values together will be explored, as well as ways to increase understanding between our communities and causes.
