Inclusive Listening: Listening Without Judgment (Grand Rapids)

Wednesday, November 8, 2017, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Women's City Club, 254 E. Fulton St., Grand Rapids, MI, View Map

Presented by M. Nora Bouchard, MA, PCC, Executive & Leadership Coach

Our world is more divided than ever before. Our government is split, our political parties are broken. Our communities are divided and even our families can't escape the quiet separation that comes from marked differences of opinion. But there is hope!

We all know that we need to be listening to each other more, but how? What stops us from really hearing each other fully is often our own opinions and judgements. The Inclusive Listening model shows us how to set those aside so we can create a welcoming space for authentic conversation.

Attendees will learn how to:

  • Seek out clues in the context
  • Set aside judgements
  • Listen for what's not said
  • Create conversations - and relationships - grounded in trust

About the Speaker

M. Nora Bouchard, MA, PCC is an executive and leadership coach with over 10,000 hours spent developing leaders. A published author and keynote speaker, Nora takes tough topics and makes them easier to explore and act on. She encourages clients to shift perspective so they see options for action that have been hiding in plain sight. Nora capitalizes on the strengths and values of each client so solutions are naturally authentic. Her clients range from large corporations, small business and private individuals.

"Nora recently made a presentation to our InForum group about Inclusive Listening, and I was reminded why she is a sought after Executive Coach. Her delivery was warm and friendly while also leading the group through some topics that are difficult to discuss. I was impressed that she changed a presentation into a well directed discussion that the audience actively contributed to. The tools she shared allow for relationship building by removing communication barriers." - Bank Executive
