Ibn Warraq will speak on “Why I Am Not A Muslim”, the first book written by a former Muslim to critically consider the major principles of Islam. His presentation will address the origins of Islam, the nature of Mohammed's message and laws, the Islamic views of women, politics and society, and a strong critical view of the Koran.
About the Speaker
Ibn Warraq is a senior research fellow at the Center for Inquiry and the founder of the Institute for the Secularization of Islamic Society. His op-ed pieces have appeared in The Wall Street Journal and The Guardian. He participated in the Secular Islam Summit in St. Petersberg and has addressed the United Nations in Geneva. He is the author of seven books, including Why I Am Not a Muslim, The Origins of the Koran, The Quest for the Historical Muhammad, What the Koran Really Says: Language, Text and Commentary and Defending the West: A Critique of Edward Said’s Orientalism.
