Well, it was really cold, but we had such a good time that we hardly noticed it. Pigeon Creek is just a beautiful place to hike/bike/ski/sled/ride horses...whatever flips your lid. Five of us showed up, Jen, Sarah, Sarah, JerryLynn, and Cathy. Three out of five had never skied before, but they did great, even going down a steep hill with a curve at the bottom. JerryLynn took us by the CreekSide trail which was quite pretty, the creek was pretty full. After about 1.5 hours of skiing we enjoyed hot chocolate by the fire in the lodge and then headed home. We missed you who were not there!

Well, I for one had a great time at the last women’s group meeting. In attendance were 2 Sarahs, Amanda, Jen, and me. Joanie was kind enough to bring cookie baking supplies including really yummy dough she made, but she herself was unable to stay. We missed you Joanie!

The crafts were a ball made from 4 circles on cardstock, which were glued together where the outlying edges of an equilateral triangle on each ball met. How’s that for a description. The balls were then given lots of bling with glue and glitter. They turned out really pretty and you can see some of them next time you visit Jen and Amanda’s place. We also made some cut cardstock star thingies which was a craft revisited from a couple of years ago. It took a few mangled pieces of paper before we remembered how the cuts were to be made, but the end result was really pretty. A couple of these are also spinning and floating hither and yon around the commune.

The cookies we made were a big hit later that night at the youth group meeting. 14 kids showed up to decorate them and eat them and generally have fun. It was a great day overall.

Hope to see lots of you next month!

Hey all! We had a fabulous lunch at Amanda’s place last Saturday. The fare consisted of Butternut Squash Bisque prepared by Jen, Sarah, and Joanie. It was super good and the recipe can be found here. Sarah made a wonderful apple sauce that was still warm. The perfect complement to the soup. And I made my world famous (well, not really) honey and molasses whole wheat bread which I baked there right before we ate. Very nice meal. Of course, we did have an appetizer to whet the palate. Joanie made queso dip that was just right to get our appetites going.

Next month we will be doing some sort of holiday craft and baking cookies at Amanda and Jen’s house which will later be decorated at my house by the youth group. Hmm. I just now was informed of this event by my loverly husband. Hmph.
If you have ideas for the craft, please post them here. We haven’t come up with anything yet. I was thinking a solstice themed craft would be nice. The shaped cookies could also have a solstice theme, so if you have cookie cutters that would be appropriate please bring them.

Looking forward to seeing you all next month!
