I’m Rick, a 41 year old teacher who is unable to work full time due to kidney disease.  I was diagnosed two years ago after graduating from GVSU with my teaching degree.  I was able to long term substitute teach for a while, and enjoyed it very much, but my dialysis treatment will not allow me to work full time successfully.  I guess I am agnostic if I had to be labled.  My major is Earth Science, so I was amazed when I would attempt to teach the age of the earth at billions of years, and found that a great number of people, includeing some science teacher in public schools, favor the Genisis view of earth history.  I’m anxiopus to meet and discuss my thoughts with people of science and rational thought in West Michigan, and some of you know how hard that is to find.

Hi Rick, sorry to hear about the kidney problems. Have you made it to any events?
