The January 1 guest column by Jerry Popiel on the subject “Theory of Evolution Disproven Regularly” is riddled with erroneous statements and requires a response. I will address four of the numerous blatantly erroneous statements that Jerry Popiel made in his guest editorial column.

Evolution Education: Is Our Approach Non-Adaptive?

Unlike any other subject that we teach, evolution is a topic that generates a socio-political response that frequently encumbers our efforts in providing our students with a comprehensive and contemporary science education. This influence is felt not only in the K-12 classroom but also in our colleges and universities. Despite a long history of debate concerning the evolution education issue and court decisions endorsing the teaching of scientific evolution in the classroom, there remains strong socio-political pressure to replace scientific evolution withnonscientific beliefs.
