A hero of the civil rights movement, Julian Bond
continues to speak out on civil justice, voting rights
and equal opportunity for all Americans.
When he was 25, he was elected to the Georgia
Legislature but denied a seat due to his opposition
to the Vietnam war. It took U.S. Supreme Court action
to seat him.
! He was the First African American nominated to be
Vice President of the U.S.
He is the founding President of the Southern
Poverty Law Center.
He once hosted Saturday Night Live and was seen
this year on the Colbert Report.
