About the Speaker
Professor Steve Borders earned his B.A. in Psychology in 1991 from the University of North Carolina. He spent his summers at Texas State University earning a Master of Health Administration degree, and then accepted a position at the Texas Department of Health as a Medicaid policy analyst. After five years with the Texas Department of Health, Borders wanted to do high-level research and policy work. He became a full time research associate at the Texas A&M Public Policy Research Institute and obtained his Ph.D. in Health Systems Planning.
Borders is one of the newest faculty members of the School of Public and Nonprofit Administration at Grand Valley State University. Integral to the M.H.A. program, Borders teaches health policy, financial management, and research methods, while also researching the causes of access barriers to prenatal care for Medicaid patients.
