W: International Peace Day - Jennifer Beahan
Presented by Jennifer Beahan, Assistant Director, Center for Inquiry Michigan
About the Speaker
Jennifer Beahan is the Assistant Director of Center for Inquiry Michigan. She was raised in a fundamentalist christian family and graduated summa cum laude from Cornerstone University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Music Education. While attending Cornerstone University she and her childhood sweetheart (now husband of 4 years), Jeremy Beahan, came to see the light of reason and were introduced to philosophy and critical thinking. Jennifer and Jeremy became members of the Freethought Association of West Michigan in 2002 and have been actively involved in the organization ever since.
Jennifer began to volunteer for the Freethought Association in 2003 and helped found the Womens’ Group and has developed several other programs. Over the years Jennifer has increasingly been involved in helping run the organization and assisted the executive board in facilitating their first Long Term planning session in 2005. After teaching elementary music for two years, Jennifer was hired as the Freethought Association’s first paid employee in 2007 and continues to serve as the Assistant Director since the Freethought Association’s merger with Center for Inquiry in the fall of 2007. Currently she manages the group’s day-to-day activities and is working to develop additional programs and services for CFI Michigan members. Jennifer also teaches private music lessons in piano, saxophone, flute and clarinet.
